Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – Movie – Review

Jumanji, Directed by Jake Kasdan

Jumanji Movie Review

Summary

Jumanji is about a group of four high-schoolers. One day while serving detention, they come across an old video game console; When they decide to play it, the console sucks them into the actual game of Jumanji, and each person becomes the avatar they chose, stuck in different bodies. The kids quickly realize that in order to get back to the real world, they will have to beat the game; but to do that, they also have to work together and complete a dangerous mission. Along the way, each person discovers their avatar’s unique abilities while navigating through the jungle. It is certainly the wildest adventure they have ever been on, but will they be able save Jumanji and get back to their real lives?

Review

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is one of my favorite Dwayne Johnson movies. It is hilarious, and the amount of action in it makes it very exciting to watch. The cast is the most amazing set of actors ever; The video game characters did a great job of acting like actual teenagers; especially Jack Black, who perfected his role as a popular girl in high-school. Kevin Hart is the comic relief, there to provide funny jokes with his natural sense of humor. And Dwayne Johnson along with Karen Gillan are the action squad. Their fighting scenes are very entertaining, even though they aren’t too realistic.

I also loved the jungle visuals, because they made it look absolutely stunning. And the locations of some sets, like the desert scene, were very beautiful as well.

Overall, I think this movie is amazing and I highly recommend it.

Creeped Out – Tv Show – Review

Creeped Out, Directed by Bruce McDonald

Creeped Out Tv Show Review

Summary

Creeped Out is a brilliant show, much like the Goosebumps series. Each episode is a creepy new story with different characters. These characters always find themselves in unexplained, scary situations, and have to find a way to get out. “The Curious,” a masked figure that collects these tales seems to be the reason for their dystopia. But the question is, will all the kids be able to escape their problems, and will it ever end?

Review

This show really did creep me out; It is full of jump scares, thrilling scenes, and suspense. What’s more is that each episode also carries a message and talks about the situations most teenagers find themselves in these days. The characters learn an important lesson at the end of an episode, and so does the audience.

With a new cast in every episode, the show becomes more exciting to watch. But having the cast change so frequently also caused different opinions on the acting itself, which led to confusion. For example, in a few episodes, the cast that was chosen wasn’t right for the episode they were shooting, and that affected the acting. Most episodes had amazing characters with a great cast though, so this didn’t affect the show too much.

Overall, I enjoyed watching Creeped Out, and I recommend it especially to teenagers because of the problems it addresses, as well as the valuable messages and advice given.

Loki – TV Show – Review

Loki, Directed by Kate Herron

Loki Tv Show Review

Summary

The Disney + show continues Loki’s adventures after disappearing with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. He ends up in the TVA (Time Variant Authority), surrounded by strange people who claim he is a variant. Here, he meets Mobius, with whom he tracks another Loki variant named Sylvie. But the two variants soon realize that the TVA is controlling people’s lives and taking away their free will. They need to destroy it and help everyone get back to their lives before the TVA. But a new villain is the mastermind behind all this, so will Loki and Sylvie be able to trust each other enough to defeat him, or will their differences come between their mission and start a war bigger than they could ever imagine?. . .

Review

After just being released, Loki rises to the top in Marvel Studios, being claimed the best Marvel series so far by thousands of fans, and I can see why; From the first episode, Loki has grabbed my full attention and interest. As the series continue, the episodes reveal more about the characters, and the show overall; so it just keeps getting better and better. We learn more about Loki, and why he acted the way he did in the Avengers movies. Loki is such an interesting character, and this show proves it, because there is so much more to his personality than shown previously. Sylvie is also very interesting, because she has a mysterious aura to her character, and I love seeing her interactions with Loki.

The plot was brilliantly structured, as it was creative and original. There are endless twists throughout the show, all of which leave me sitting at the edge of my seat. It isn’t dry and boring because there is also a lot of action, story arcs, and character development.

Overall, I love Loki, and can’t wait for the next season to come out. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Marvel series, because this is one on a whole new level.

Lost In Space – TV Show – Review

Lost in Space, Directed by Tim Southam

lost in space

Summary

Lost in Space is about a family full of smart, handy survivors; The Robinsons. On their way to a fresh start and a new life, the Robinsons’ spaceship goes off course and lands on an alien planet. Now they have to find a way to get back to the Resolute.

This family meets many new people and challenges along the way, and they learn to work together with each other. But trouble always seems to follow the Robinsons. . .

Review

Lost in Space has the classic mixture of adventure, action, and mystery that ever good show needs. Every character in this show is so smart and knowledgeable about their own interests. This was why all of them stole my heart and had me feeling whatever they were going through at the moment. It is amazing how every character has their own personality that mixes nicely with everyone else. All of them were so great at acting that they made me either love their character or dislike them a lot – no in between.

There is so much trauma that the family is dealing with in each episode; it feels like you are sharing it all with them. All the excitement and adventure makes you want to keep watching.

I really enjoyed watching this show and can’t wait for the next season to come out! I recommend this to anyone who likes mystery and action shows.

The Greenhouse Academy – TV Show – Review

The Greenhouse Academy, Directed by Roee Florentin

the greenhouse academy

Summary

The Greenhouse Academy is a show about two siblings, Haley and Alex. One day, their mom dies, and their lives change forever..

Alex and Haley get accepted into the school their mom used to go to, and drama is everywhere. The two houses, Ravens and Eagles, are always competing, and things get even harder when crushes develop. But between all this drama, there is a greater conspiracy lurking in the shadows. An evil plot that requires the Eagles and Ravens to work together to put an end to. . .

Review

The Greenhouse Academy was full of entertainment; It made me laugh, cry, and feel the need to watch more after every episode. The acting was definitely the best I have ever seen. The way each actor/actress was able to completely let go of real life and step in their characters’ shoes was fascinating.

But this show has a slow and confusing starting that might throw some people off. Though you just need to continue watching, and I promise you, it will keep getting better and better.

Seasons 3 and 4 were a welcome surprise. It was a nice change that the spotlight was on another character, because we got to know more about their background. The cast changed a little, and some characters were replaced, or completely gone. But the mixture of drama, mystery, and romance still remained – or even increased.

Overall, this show was one of the best I have watched on Netflix. I loved it, and I recommend it to anyone!

The Unlisted – TV Show – Review

The Unlisted, Produced by Justine Flynn

the unlisted

Summary

The Unlisted is a show about twin brothers, Dru and Kal. They discover a secret conspiracy that the government is planning; It is a plot to brainwash all kids and make them smarter and stronger. But everyone at their school, even Kal, is under control. Dru has the advantage, so he works together with his twin, as well as some other Unlisted kids to shut down the program and save the world.

Review

The Unlisted is an incredible mystery-thriller show. Each episode ends with a small cliffhanger, which makes you want to watch more and more. The plot twists were frequent, and left the audience in suspense, sitting at the edge of their seats.

All the characters had their own roles to play, and their personalities mixed together really well. The twin connection between Dru and Kal is fascinating to watch. The show sends so many positive messages that talk about how teamwork, intelligence, and skills can defeat anything.

But in some serious parts of the show, the acting became a little questionable. It could have been performed better, though all the actors/actresses were new faces, so it was expected.

Overall, I give this show 5/5 stars, it such an exciting one. I recommend this to anyone who loves mysteries and thrillers.

Shiloh – Book Review

Shiloh, By Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

shiloh

Shiloh is a book about a boy named Marty Preston, who finds a dog. He keeps the dog, and names him Shiloh. But when Marty finds out that the dog belongs to an abusive owner, he doesn’t want to give him up. So he starts to work for the owner to get Shiloh back. But the owner doesn’t seem trustworthy enough to keep his promise. How will Marty save the dog now?

This is such a heartwarming book to read. Great story about love, humanity, and doing the right thing. It is very well-written, and captures every detail. It has you waiting in suspense, wondering what’s going to happen next.

Marty’s determination and willingness to save Shiloh is what I really like about his character. It shows the true meaning of a man’s best friend. But there are a lot of underdeveloped characters in this story. For example, Marty’s friend, David Howard, is an important part of the book because he is one of the first to know about Shiloh; But, the book does not mention too much about this interesting character, which does upset me a little.

This book was sad, which is the case with most books about dogs, but it was amazing overall, and I enjoyed reading this very much.

Monk – TV Show – Review

Mr. Monk, Created by Andy Breckman; ‎David Hoberman

mr. monk review

Summary

Monk is a American comedy-drama detective show, portraying the life of Adrian Monk, a brilliant man. He suffers of mental disorders and phobias, and the death of his wife, Trudy Monk, haunts him even years later; It’s the only murder he hasn’t been able to solve yet, but will he ever? . . .

Review

I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to find a show with light-hearted laughter, positive messages, and role model examples.

This show is entertaining, sad, funny, and will steal your heart. It shows how people with disorders and illnesses can be brilliant as well, and with Adrian, this shines through his personality. His way of solving cases, the passion, and the way he notices little things, will have you hooked. It has witty dialogue, and the plot keeps the audience begging for more. I appreciate Monk because of the writers’ and directors’ effort to make sure that the murder mystery itself is not the main focus of every episode. Friendship is the real theme of this show; The main characters show each other respect and demonstrate what it is to be a true friend. Overall, I think Monk is one of the best, if not the best, crime shows, out there.

The Misadventures of Max Crumbly – Locker Hero

But his misadventures lead him to question that choice. He wishes he could become the hero he always wanted to be and get out of the mess he is in.

Unfortunately, Max’s uncanny, almost superhuman ability to smell pizza from a block away won’t exactly save any lives or foil bad guys. But that doesn’t mean Max won’t do his best to be the hero his school needs! . . .

This is recommended to all middle-schoolers and elementary students! Its a funny book about a boy’s adventurous story that might eventually lead to justice from both thieves and bullies.

(5/5) PG
Zootopia

Zootopia is about a bunny named Judy Hopps, who has big dreams about making the world a better place. She wants to become a police officer. But, no one believes she can do it. Still, Judy trains at the police academy and works hard to achieve her dream. After a lot of dedication and hard work, she is finally selected to go to Zoo-topia to work as a rabbit cop!

But she soon realizes that Zootopia isn’t as perfect as it seems. Problems lead from missing mammals to savage predators. All Judy knows is that she needs to keep the city from tearing apart, even if it means finding help from a sly fox. . .

Zootopia is highly recommended for people who love adventurous movies. The plot of this movie was a little slow paced, but, it had a nicely described story line, and the theme promotes friendship and equality. The hidden message was a wonderful touch to the movie. The characters were well developed, and most had changed for the better by the end. Jason Bateman’s character, Nick Wilde, added a touch of humor to various scenes in the film, which was much needed. Overall, this movie was really incredible, and I have enjoyed it very much!
